Today, we began what I hope is a new tradition. We went to a Christmas Tree farm and cut down our own tree. It was so much fun and a lot less expensive than buying a tree down the street from us. We even brought Emily along for the fun.
At first the kids and I were excited, but Blu wasn't really buying the whole experience.
We started by getting on a flatbed attached to a tractor. We had to lift Emily onto it and she was so terribly scared. But, we hopped off after just a few minutes to find our Christmas Tree.
There were a ton of trees to choose from, but Blu was hoping for something really big. We guessed that an 8 foot tree would fit nicely in our foyer. That seems to be the best spot for a tree in our little house. He found our tree and quickly went to work cutting it down with support from the kids.
I even tried to help out a little.
The kids, Emily & I walked back to the store so that Emily wouldn't have to endure another trip on the tractor and Barry waited for a ride with our tree.
And we ate really delicious donuts while we waited. Soon Blu arrived with our tree.
The workers shook the tree before they put it in the wrapping machine. It was fun to watch the process.
Then, a nice man tied the tree to the roof of our car.
And we took it home to decorate. Although, it was a bit bigger than we thought.
Everyone pitched in to decorate.
And we wore gloves for a bit because the tree is very prickely.
Now our tree is beautiful and we have an even more beautiful memory. (And Blu thought it was a great idea in the end.)
