With the IOC announcement to retest Beijing Olympiads... this can mean only one thing despite their statement that "There is no evidence that Beijing athletes were using either substance". The banned substances they are retesting for are EPO CERA (a new version of the endurance-enhancing hormone EPO that was discovered in use on this years Tour De France) and the well known diabetic drug Insulin (substance is not new but, it wasn't until recently that a WADA lab developed an effective urine test for it).
"When we have a test available which is fully validated, we use it and we don't hesitate to test retroactively," Moreau said.
Suffice to say that the IOC believes retesting will turn up some findings maybe none of us want to hear about. I was on a phone call just today talking with a Pro Mountain Biker about doping and his efforts to help get the sport(s) CLEAN. It's like you can't get away from it and everyone is always talking about it. Worse, the cheats are continually finding new ways to keep beating the system.
